Enter your visitors and conversions below and this free conversion rate calculator (CVR calculator) gives you your rate, plus a verdict: good, OK, or low for your business model. The verdict comes from real data - the median control conversion rates in 1,055 audited ConversionTeam A/B tests, bounded by published industry benchmarks (Dynamic Yield, IRP Commerce, Littledata, Contentsquare, Ruler Analytics) - so it never quotes you a fantasy number. Want a realistic target for your full traffic profile - business model, order value, device, visitor, and channel mix? Use the profile estimator on our benchmarks page.

Verdict thresholds come from ConversionTeam's audited test data (median baseline per business model across 1,055 A/B tests) and published benchmark bands per model (Dynamic Yield, IRP Commerce, Littledata, Contentsquare, Ruler Analytics). Make sure the conversion you count matches your model - a purchase for ecommerce, a lead or signup for lead generation.

How to calculate conversion rate

Conversion rate is the share of visitors who do the thing you care about - buy, fill the form, sign up. The formula the calculator above runs:

Conversion rate = (conversions ÷ visitors) × 100

Two worked examples. An ecommerce store with 8,000 sessions and 232 orders last month is converting at 2.9%. A landing page with 1,200 sessions and 144 demo requests is converting at 12% - much higher, because a form fill is a cheaper action than a purchase, which is why lead conversion rates should never be benchmarked against ecommerce ones.

Where to pull the numbers: in GA4, Reports > Engagement > Conversions gives you the conversion count, and Reports > Acquisition gives you sessions (GA4 divides by sessions by default - a user-based rate reads higher, so pick one denominator and keep it). Shopify reports a session-based conversion rate directly on the Online store conversion rate card. Whichever source you use, make sure the conversion you count matches the one you care about - a purchase, not an add-to-cart - and calculate it over at least a full week so weekday/weekend swings don’t distort it.

For what a good result looks like once you have your number - by business model, page type, device, traffic channel, order value, and new vs returning visitors - see the full conversion-rate benchmarks.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate conversion rate? Conversions divided by visitors, times 100. If 8,000 sessions produce 232 orders, that’s a 2.9% conversion rate. Decide up front whether the denominator is sessions or users (GA4 defaults to sessions) and whether the conversion is a purchase or a micro-step like an add-to-cart, and keep it consistent.

How does the good / OK / low verdict work? It compares your rate to the median baseline conversion rate for your business model across 1,055 audited ConversionTeam A/B tests, bounded by published benchmark bands. At or above your model’s median reads good; inside the published band but below the median reads OK; below the published floor reads low. Well above the band, the calculator flags it - purchase rates up there usually mean a tracking issue, while lead and micro-conversion rates really do run that high.

What’s a realistic conversion rate for a site like mine? It depends on your business model, typical order value, device mix, visitor mix, and traffic channels - each one moves the number. The profile estimator on our benchmarks page prices a realistic rate for your exact profile from the same 1,055 audited tests.

Is this calculator based on real data? Yes. The verdict thresholds come from 1,055 ConversionTeam A/B tests with an audited baseline conversion rate (medians by business model), and the sanity band per model comes from published benchmarks - Dynamic Yield, IRP Commerce, Littledata, Contentsquare, and Ruler Analytics.
